FUNimation Responds to Lawsuit Filed By Vic Mignogna

In April we reported that Voice Actor Vic Mignogna had filed a defamation suit again Funimation, Jamie Marchi, Monica Rial and Rial’s fiance Ronald Toye. Marchi and Rial were among a number of people who came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and assault against Mignogna earlier this year. Following those accusations, Mignogna was let go by American Anime importer Funimation and had a number of his convention appearances cancelled.

If you haven’t seen it already, you can read the complaint filed by Mignogna here.

Well, as expected, Funimation has filed a response to Mignogna’s suit. We’ve embedded the response below, but it’s nothing all that exciting.

Funimation, as you would expect, is denying that anything they publicly released could be considered defamation. Since I’m not a lawyer, I’m not going to arm-chair analyze this like a jackass though, so I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

We will continue to follow this story as it develops.

Trae Dorn

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
