Director Tim Miller Has Left Deadpool 2
Last February’s Deadpool became the the biggest rated R movie of all time in no small part because of the collaboration between director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds. And while Miller initially signed on to the forthcoming sequel, apparently he and Reynolds didn’t see eye to eye on the direction of the film… and apparently Tim Miller has now left the film.
While the departure on Friday was apparently amicable, it was over the creative direction of the film. Reynolds wants the sequel to maintain the comedic, fourth wall breaking tone established in the first film, while Miller wanted to create a more stylized film.
The straw that apparently broke the camels back was the casting of Kyle Chandler as Cable. Chandler was Miller’s choice, but Reynolds disagreed — and as Reynolds has casting approval on the film, the studio sided with the star.
Whatever happens with the film, it’s still expected to see a 2018 release.
